3 Simple Actions to Make Your Life Easier and Happier
Life can get busy, hectic, and stressful too. And it’s not that you choose this kind of life, but there are so many external forces at play. Your work, your loved ones, finances, health concerns, things that need to get done, and places you need to be. It can get overwhelming when you just don’t have a minute to spare.
Now I am not saying that I have some tricks up my sleeve that can help turn your busy, overcomplicated, and sometimes stressful lives into a stress-free or a walk-in-the-park type of life.
I want to show you what we can do to try and simplify our heavy-loaded life wherever possible and find some balance by making intentional decisions.
The 3 practices I am sharing with you are the exact practices I use to simplify my own life. They are easy tweaks and adjustments that help uncomplicate my life.
I encourage you to take small steps because these small changes over time make a big difference. A kind of difference that makes your life easier, less stressful, and more fun.
Easy Life Tool #1
KNOW YOUR PRIORITIES IN LIFE:
When we say that our lives are overly complicated and hectic, it merely means that there is too much on our plate. And everything on this plate feels like a priority! But is it, really?! Have you stopped for a second to question what your true priorities in life are?
When you are not fully aware and conscious of your priorities in life, three things happen. 1. Things that are your priorities never make it to your to-do list. 2. Some of the things that are not really your top priorities end up hogging your to-do list. 3. Your life feels overburdened with not just priority stuff, but rather from the unimportant things too, that could be easily removed from your life.
It is absolutely crucial to know and question your priorities to help you use your limited time wisely.
And that brings me to another point. You only have limited hours a day. So if you want to get any ease in your life, you have to become more intentional with your time and energy.
The only way to be more intentional with your time is by knowing your true priorities in life, inside and out. This will help you remove activities and people that are not adding any value.
Make life easy: Take a moment to identify your priorities in life right now. And then, take a look at your calendar and evaluate what things can be removed or limited that are no longer serving any purpose in your life.
Easy Life Tool #2
KEEP SELF-CARE TOP OF MIND
I think it goes without saying that one of the main reasons to make our life easier and less stressful is to take better care of ourselves.
But the reverse is also true, that is to say, that self-care itself can help make your life easier. How, you may ask? Well, self-care behaviors help you stay balanced and energized in life. And, self-care practices help you cope better with stress and anxiety, which would otherwise make life even harder.
I admit that when things get overwhelming, the first thing to go is self-care habits. I have been guilty of telling myself that I’ll go back to the gym and start eating healthy when things slow down. And I get that sometimes self-care seems like another thing to add to your long to-do list.
But that is a rookie mistake because when life gets busy, stressful, and uneasy, self-care is the very tool that helps you better manage your life. It helps us slow down and unwind. Self-care helps to bring a little ease and joy to our lives.
Make life easy: It doesn’t matter if you can find 10 minutes or 60 minutes, make time to do something for yourself every day. A bubble bath, baking cookies, going for a walk, or maybe reading a page from a book. Find the time to recharge and refuel yourself. Trust me, it will make your life easier to handle.
Simple Life Tool #3
BUILD ROUTINES & SYSTEMS
I am probably not the first person to tell you that setting systems and routines helps you stay organized and make life easier and simpler.
I was skeptical of routines till I became an entrepreneur. And I get that routines make life seem kind of restrictive and take away the spontaneity in life. But trust me, creating habits is a magical way to simplify your life. It takes away a big chunk of the everyday decision-making process of what needs to get done, and you can just relax and get stuff done.
A really effective way for me to create a flow in my schedule is by considering my energy levels during the day. For example, my to-list items are batched in high-energy and low-energy items. And I know that the mornings are my productive time, so I schedule my high-energy things to do first thing in the morning.
Another habit that helps make life easier is planning out your week on Sundays or Friday evenings. And then the night before, fine-tuning the plan for the next day. This really helps to stay focused and on top of things to make life a lot easier.
Make life easy: think about the different areas in your life where perhaps implementing routines will help remove the headache you feel about getting it done. Some ideas to get your creative juices flowing, grocery + meal prepping, your morning and evening routines, your exercise plan, weekend housework.
Final thoughts
I named all the tools that I just provided as easy life tools, but I understand that they may not seem that simple initially. So if you feel this way, I encourage you to push yourself to start with one tool that appeals the most to you and work on implementing and practicing it for a month. And then, over time, incorporating the others. These tools can have a significant impact on making your everyday life a little simple and more manageable.
